In the midst of smash seasons for both venues, Monday evening Proctors and Capital Repertory Theatre revealed the 2019–2020 Key Private Bank Broadway Series at Proctors and the 2019–2020 Season at Capital Repertory Theatre.

Disney’s Frozen and the critically acclaimed The SpongeBob Musical will both tech in Schenectady, launching national tours from State Street. In Albany, theREP is looking to inaugurate its new space, only blocks from its present location, with Sister Act in July 2020.

Tony and Grammy-winning pop culture phenomenon Dear Evan Hansen headlines the season offerings and is joined by the most recent Tony winner for Best Musical, The Band’s Visit. Dates were also announced for Fiddler on the Roof; SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical; and Hello, Dolly! at Proctors and Lobby Hero; It’s a Wonderful Life: Live from WVL Radio Theater; Your Best One; and The Irish and How They Got That Way at theREP, with performers representing many of the shows.

Proctors Collaborative CEO Philip Morris said the twin seasons represent “more entertainment, more options and more flexibility.”

“It’s really incredible what we can offer to the Broadway fan right here in Schenectady. Frozen, for example, has only announced a handful of major, major cities so far, yet they are building the show at Proctors. You’ll have the very first chance to experience the show outside of New York with us! And Dear Evan Hansen is a true blockbuster, playing to sold-out audiences on Broadway and across the country.”

Proctors subscribers will see seven Key Private Bank Broadway Series shows in 2019–2020, along with a title of their choice at theREP. Capital Repertory Theatre subscribers will see five shows in Albany and make a cross-venue choice from a KPB or Proctors exclusive title.

All subscribers have exclusive priority access to additional titles, including The Play That Goes Wrong and CATS! at Proctors and The Full Monty at theREP, before they are available to the general public. And all subscribers are now given the opportunity for automatic renewal.

Traditionally, theREP enchants with a summer musical. While that space in the 2019 calendar will still be occupied by such—five-weeks of The Full Monty, in fact—the show will, as noted, be a subscriber exclusive.

Beginning with the 2019–2020 Season, Capital Repertory Theatre will open its annual slate in September. The change will make it simpler for subscribers, particularly Theatre Lovers, who attend all shows at both houses.

“We’re so excited that Sister Act will hopefully open our new space in July 2020,” said theREP’s Producing Artistic Director Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill. “It’s the perfect, fun show for a new beginning. We can’t wait to share our work with new neighbors, longtime supporters and the next generation of fans of professional theatre.”

Hosted for the fourth consecutive year by NEWS 10 Albany/NEWS10 ABC/FOX 23 anchors John Gray and Lydia Kulbida, the annual Bash—sponsored by Hill, Gosdeck & McGraw LLC—played to a ‘sold out’ house of invited subscribers, members, group leaders, sponsors and supporters.

At the event, Fran O’Rourke, market leader, Capital Region, Key Private Bank, announced that, as winner of the 2019 Proctors Disney’s Frozen Getaway Sweepstakes, presented by KeyBank, one lucky entrant and a guest will win round-trip transportation to New York City, a two-night hotel stay, a Key Possibilities® MasterCard® gift card with a value of $250, and two tickets to a performance of Frozen at the St. James Theatre on an agreed upon date. For contest rules and information, visit proctors.org.

“Year after year, the Key Private Bank Broadway Series brings world-class entertainment experiences to the Capital Region,” said O’Rourke. “We’re proud to be a part of this long-standing tradition, and we’re especially proud to follow up on the success of last year’s Hamilton Flyaway Sweepstakes with the 2019 Frozen Getaway!”

Subscriptions for the 2019–2020 Key Private Bank Broadway Series at Proctors and the 2019–2020 Season at Capital Repertory Theatre go on sale 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 at the Box Office at Proctors, 432 State Street, Schenectady; and by phone at 518.346.6204.
