Master of Arts thesis show adapts to the temporary Shift of the Art World Online

The University at Albany Department of Art & Art History opens a virtual 2020 MA Thesis Show on Friday, May 1. Efflorescence – meaning “flowering out” in French – features paintings, sculpture, and photography by MA candidates Bob DiBono, Juliana Haliti, Tara Holmes, Raouf Khalil, Andrea Lawyer, Minling Lin, and H.C.Tiffany Lo.

The exhibition is presented as an online catalogue through May 17. It represents the culmination of one year of intensive study and studio art practice. The students have been working off campus since March 23, adapting basements, living rooms, offices, and garages into home studios.

JoAnne Carson, Professor and Graduate Director of the UAlbany Studio Art Program says: “At a time of profound difficulty in facing a worldwide pandemic, these seven graduating MA students inspire our confidence that they will enter this world with focus and clarity of purpose. They are a forceful group with great ambitions, a hunger for knowledge and fearlessness in cutting new pathways in the art world – and the world in general for that matter.”
