‘Northern Lights’
This is the last week to check out the surreal visual experience of this exhibit. Seeking to highlight the drama and magic of light, shape and color, four artists use unique materials and techniques in their abstract works, transforming the gallery into an electrifying display of neon light, reflective surfaces, vibrant palettes and energetic mark-making in this site-dependent installation.

The second class of the Eddies Hall of Fame – The Accents, Blotto, The Fidelitys, Hal Ketchum, Lena Spencer and John Sykes – are to be inducted to the Eddies Hall of Fame. The 2019 inductees (Kevin McKrell and Ruth Pelham) will also be in attendance at the ceremony and dinner, featuring live music from PJ Duo and Erin Harkes, who will emcee the event.

Artist Talk: Matt Chinian
Learn more about Chinian’s “Did You See That.” The artist will talk about documenting places and scenes that present fascinating color fields. He paints typically overlooked locales asking to be found. Many of his works are recorded in and around the Capital Region, maybe even in your town. Enjoy Chinian’s wandering eye through his painterly hand that depicts the beautiful to the sublime in this exhibition, on display through April 5.

Looking and Moving with Root3d’s Jammella Anderson and Aaron Moore
The Root3d instructors will present a workshop that combines mindful movement and dramatic expression. Anderson is a 500-hr CYT who began her practice in 2012 offers yoga instruction for all bodies seeking to step into their own power. Moore has performed with the Capital Rep Theatre and Roundtable Theatre Company as well as on NBC, Showtime and The History Channel. Please bring a mat.

Author Talk: Diana Waite’s ‘The Architecture of Downtown Troy’
Waite’s book “The Architecture of Downtown Troy: An Illustrated History,” explores the history behind significant buildings in downtown Troy and how they were designed and constructed. Waite and her colleagues scoured historical society collections, newspaper articles and advertisements as well as the Historic American Buildings Survey to complete the project.
Waite is also president of Mount Ida Press, which conducts historical-research and writing projects and provides consultant services on publication and historic-preservation projects. Copies of the book will be available for purchase courtesy of Market Block Books.
