Don’t be surprised if you see artists working outdoors today around Glens Falls. Instead of being surprised snap a picture and share it with the hashtags #hydepleinair and #communityday. In fact, you are encouraged to ask questions of the artists and hang out as their work unfolds.
Seventeen artists from around the Northeast are taking part in the Plein Air Day that will culminate in the Community Day celebration at The Hyde Collection on August 11 where the artists’ work will be on display and available for purchase.
Free tours of The Hyde will be available on the hour starting at 12:30 and local band The Switch will play from noon to 2 PM.
Capping the day will be Plein Air Festival Artist Awards which will be given out at 3 PM. Artists are competing in categories including Best in Show, Nocturne, Water, and Structure.
Local artist and festival juror George Van Hook will give a demonstration of plein air painting at The Hyde on Friday at 6 PM. Admission is $5.
