Art Talk: ‘Earth Diplomacy: Diné Arts of Reciprocity, 1966–1968’
“From 1966-68, the United States government commissioned Diné (Navajo) artists Bertha and Fred Stevens to demonstrate weaving and sandpainting across Eurasia and Latin America, ostensibly as an exercise of Cold War ‘soft power.’ Drawing upon Indigenous knowledge, International Relations theory, and the methods of ecocritical art history, this talk reframes the Stevens’ tour as a creative instance of what Clark Fellow Jessica Horton calls ‘earth diplomacy.’”

Glens Falls at Work: Photo & Audio Exhibit and ‘LIVE!’ storytelling
An exhibit showcasing photos of work in Glens Falls from the 1800s to the present with listening stations where you can hear work stories from people in the community. At 7 PM, all are invited to listen, laugh along and share their funniest, craziest or most meaningful work stories to a live audience.

Ashon Crawley: ‘Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Sound, Quantum Love’
“Drawing upon the relationship of Black Pentecostalism to performance studies, as well as the relationship of quantum mechanics to the human experiences of loneliness and love,” Ashon Crawley, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, African American, and African Studies at the University of Virginia, will present a lecture on “his action painting practice as well as performative modes of breath, including shouting, noise and speaking in tongues.”

You know it is not your dream and now you must find the true dreamer.” Troy Foundry Theatre and Die-Cast are once again teaming up to create a new, immersive experience inspired by classic horror stories from the Victorian era, directed by Brenna Geffers. Audiences will prowl through interwoven tales of dread, using the physical space to bring the unimaginable to life. A “ spooky death dance” DJ set by SUPER DARK COLLECTIVE kicks off the third annual prom at 7 PM with host Bobby Carlton of Dryer taking votes for the Prom King & Queen, Queen & Queen and King & King to be announced at midnight. The 9 PM show includes Dryer (Saratoga indie rock), William Hale Vs. Willian Hate (Glens Falls artist’s dark, twisted, heavy-psych alter-ego face off), Ghoul Poon (the audio/visual brainchild of Super Dark’s Shane Sanchez from 2007-12 back for a good time). ‘HERE & THERE’ by Roxanne Macmod
Completing her five-week residency at ALN, Roxanne Macmod invites you to her show of oil paintings. “Macmod learned her techniques in Playa del Carmen, Mexico under the renowned Russian Modern Impressionist artist Leonid Afremov in the Spring of 2012. In the summer of 2013, she spent it in the streets of Paris for an Impressionism cityscape workshop with Atelier Alupi.” Enjoy drinks, canapes and a raffle during the exhibition.

Albany Lantern Parade 2019
A celebration of light at community.
