Come see the Park Playhouse Kids production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” This classic story is one that children and adults are sure to enjoy for a break from the summer heat. The production runs until August 3rd.

Nashville by NYC musician Amy Rigby brings her rebellious “mod housewife” tunes to The Sanctuary for Independent Media’s Freedom Square with ambitious VA by NC singer-songwriter Crys Matthews, whose songs are said to soothe the soul. Come for the music and stay for the community resource fair, featuring local organizations sharing access to information and tools to support local women “who bear a heavy load, caring for families against all odds.”

Breaking Benjamin

Illuminate July: August Wilson
Playwright August Wilson’s work included “The Pittsburgh Cycle,” winning him two Pulitzer prizes for Drama and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” currently being adapted to film. Each work in his 10 piece series is set in a different decade, depicting comic and tragic aspects of the 20th century African-American experience. In honor of the upcoming film, Illuminate actors will perform monologues from one of Wilsons acclaimed plays. DJ Trumastr will set the mood and there will be an audience talkback following the performance.

The Philadelphia based dance company, founded in 1970 by artistic director Joan Myers Brown, heads to Saratoga for a few of their company members to teach a master class.

The twangy rock artist known for his stint as lead guitarist in The War On Drugs and his recent collaborative record with fellow guitarist and star lyricist Courtney Barnett is bringing his band to Crossgates Mall.
